An Impromptu Duo caught on Cubase
December 9, 2008 at 4:07 pm (Music Technology Projects)
This is a Cuebase audio/midi project.
Imagine you are on a beach (that is the sea and seagull sounds) watching this scene unfold. A freckled readhead boy is bouncing along the beach playing a tune on his recorder. Coming from the other direction is a brunette with a set of pan pipes. She listens and when he finishes, she answers with her own melody. Then they play their duo together. And, of course, you have your guitar and as they play you add what you can, just for fun.
The original melody is Two William Davies, a traditional Irish song. The rest is my own work.
Death and Life, a Soundforge Project

Death and Life, by Candice Netti
This is a very short programmatic symphony about a boy who thinks he can no longer go on living and tries to take his own life. He realizes that he does not want to die and learns to live life to the fullest.
Mvmt 1: Death
All he feels is empty solitude. (gongs) He begins to feel like everything is falling apart (ponticello) until he finally ends it. (single gong).
Mvmt 2: Rebirth
Whatever he did, it didn’t work. He realizes that he wants to live and his heart begins to beat.
Mvmt 3: Live
He takes out his keys and opens the door. He goes out into the world and lives life, the same theme from his rebirth comes back faster and more lively.
Mvmt4: Life
He remembers what he did, how he used to feel (single gong). He pretends he can take it all back, knowing what he knows now. He rewinds and starts his life over. Better this time.
Sample Music Session
December 9, 2008 at 4:05 pm (Music Technology Projects)
This is a song arranged for guitar, voice and recorder.
The guitar plays simple enough chords (D, A, G) that could be taught if the client has the ability, or you could have 3 pre-tuned guitars that will only play one chord. Or you could use an autoharp or any instrument that will play the chords written above the staff.
Any one can sing the voice part, there are three verses and they each have the same melody.
The recorder is meant for the leader to play, and they should know how to play the recorder well. The first verse doubles the voice and the other verses embellish the part.
Enjoy!!!!!!
